Zoom is an online tool that I hope to implement into my classroom. Hopefully, I will be given the opportunity to explore this with my students in a few weeks as I enter the classroom for my professional semester 1.
Zoom is an online interactive app that allows you to video chat with someone who is far away. This could be implemented in the classroom in either social studies or a language arts curriculum. I would specifically use it in a social studies lesson and connect students to an elder or other FMNI student or community member who could share information about the culture and their history. This could be done through students connecting to different people individually or you could connect with one person as a class and prepare different questions the students would ask or just allow the virtual guest to share what they wish. Zoom allows students to experience the FMNI culture from an insider’s perspective. Allowing students to develop a personal relationship with the guests and the information they are learning.
